We browse the web all the time, we research, check our email, and even do our school work online. There are many different web browsers that can be used to view the web, some of them work pretty good, others are not so great. In this document I will tell you about what I have found to be the best web browser to use for working on school.
To start with there are a few main web browsers that people use most, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome, and Safari. They all have a little bit different features and sometime display things a little bit differently, but basically they do the same thing. The question is which is the best for accessing Aventa?
Internet Explorer: Microsoft Windows default web browser since Windows 95, it’s an OK browser, but it can be a bit slow at times. It also can get bogged down by to many toolbars installed, they slow down the browsers launch time and make it slow. In regards to Aventa, it does not display everything that is available such as on writing questions in quizzes and when posting on the boards. There is a toolbar that allows you to add and change different things in your writing, but most of those options fail to show in IE. Although as a nice thought, I have never had problems uploading documents to Aventa in it. Platforms Supported: Mircosoft Windows. Download Latest Version Here(MS Windows Only)
Google Chrome: Google’s web browser that was released sometime in the last couple years. It’s a pretty fast web browser in general and doesn’t have all those browser bogging toolbars that IE has. In Google Chrome the options to change text don’t seem to appear at all, which is very much like IE, making it less then ideal for use with Aventa. Platforms Supported: Microsoft Windows, Linux, Mac OS X. Download Chrome Here
Safari: Apples web browser first released with Mac OS X 10.1 many years ago. Safari works pretty good, moves at a nice speed and like Google Chrome there are none of those annoying toolbars. Again though much like Chrome there are no options when editing text for quizzes and discussion posts. Again I haven’t experienced any trouble uploading documents to Safari, at least on the Mac version. Platforms Supported: Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows. Download Safari
Firefox: Finally that brings us to Firefox. To start with Firefox works pretty good in general, it was first created back in 1998. Like IE you can download toolbars for it, but I don’t recommend it. There are also many neat and useful(and useless) plug-ins for it, one features I don’t advise are the themes you can put on it, mostly because it is distracting and on lower grade machines can slow the browser down. For Aventa it’s the best I have found. I have had no trouble uploading documents to Aventa and it displays all options like it should. Platforms: Microsoft Windows, Linux, Mac OS X. Download Firefox The conclusion I have come to is that Firefox is by far the best web browser for use with Aventa, not to mention it’s pretty good all around, the Mac version seems a bit slow to me however. Now every browser is a wee bit different. Firefox is very simple to use, once it’s downloaded launch the program. You will see a screen much like the one above. The first part across the top right is called the toolbar, the options file, edit, view, history, bookmarks, tools, and help are there. Out of those you will mostly use bookmarks. Below that is the navigation bar and back and forward buttons, a refresh button, a cancel load button, and a home button. Below that is the bookmarks bar. You can poke around in the other menus if you want to, I am only going to show you the basics of Firefox.
Now you will probably want to have all your bookmarks added to Firefox, normally when you first launch Firefox it will bring up an import wizard, all you will need to do is select which browser you want to import from. Now let’s say for whatever reason that doesn’t come up, simply go to file on the top left and select import... from the menu. The import wizard will then open.
Ok, so you have your bookmarks now. You are ready to start browsing and adding more bookmarks. Adding more bookmarks is very simple, simply go to bookmarks on the toolbar and click bookmark this page. A box will come showing where you want to bookmark the page. There is a drop down menu that shows where you can bookmark the items, if you select bookmarks menu your bookmark will appear in the bookmarks menu on the toolbar, if you select bookmarks bar they will appear on the bookmarks bar.
Now for the Internet browsing part of Firefox. Like any browser all you will need to do is type the web address into the navigation bar and hit enter. The navigate back a web page hit the back arrow on the left or to navigate forward a page hit the forward arrow on the top left. To navigate to a bookmark simply open the bookmarks menu and click the page you want to see or click the page from the bookmarks bar.

You forgot Opera too because, a lot of people use Opera now also. But I don't want to use it anymore with the issues I have come across. Opera 9.0 was the best, the other versions just got slower and slower and slower by the years. I do not like Opera 10.0 and up.
